Green Innovation Ventures Enterprises Ltd(GIVE Ltd) is among 13 other firms awarded under Kenya Off-grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP) facility, a flagship project of the Ministry of Energy, financed by the World Bank . KOSAP is extending financing to the selected companies as part of the Government of Kenya’s efforts to achieve universal access to electricity by 2026 as per the Kenya National Electrification Strategy. About 1.3 million people in 14 counties will be linked to solar energy under a Sh390 million World Bank facility that targets to light up areas not on the national grid. GIVE Ltd operations will be focused in 4 counties of the Coast region of Kenya.
“This project, which is modelled to support private sector players to establish viable businesses in the underserved Counties, is an optimal option and a key plank in meeting our electrification goals throughout Kenya, so that no one is left behind,” Energy Principal Secretary Gordon Kihalangwa said.
